This project was recorded and produced by me, Dave Illig. Collaborating on the effort, providing musical and technical
input was Paul Getty, former guitarist with Stevie Wonder. The CD graphics

did the duplication and packaging. As a full time
pilot with family obligations, spare time is at a premium, necessitating the
need to record at home.
This project started as a burnt CD to share with family, friends and fellow employees
so they could hear a sample of my playing. As more people requested a
copy, it became time consuming so I decided to have the songs professionally
duplicated and packaged. Purchasing information is available at the bottom
of this page.
Below is the list of songs on the CD. Samples are available by
clicking on the blue titles. These are just short excerpts, the melody and
solos are not complete. The six samples represent a cross section of the
different styles of jazz on the CD. Longer Samples of some selected songs
can be heard on the
MP3 Page.

Four On Six
This song was written by Wes Montgomery. It features interesting
bass, chord and melody parts. It changes form throughout the song
keeping it interesting for the listener.
Love Beyond Measure
This song was written and arranged on midi by my friend
Mark
Stefani in the late 80's.
He wrote it for his wife. When
George Benson came out with his Breezin
album I was stunned. George turned me on to jazz. I think you will
hear the influence Mr. Benson had on me when you listen to this song.
The song will fade out and back in so you can hear a little of the solo. 805KB

Tear It
Down
Another great tune written by Wes Montgomery. I like this
song a lot, it is one of my all time favorite Wes tunes to play on. 748KB

Willow
Weep for Me
This is an excerpt from my rendition of Willow Weep for Me. It's
a great venue for me to use my blues background while keeping a jazz flavor
throughout. 857KB
Tenor Madness
Sunny Rollins wrote this tune. I love the head, great tight
melody, simple yet complex. A pleasure to play.
Whatever It takes
This is another original song written and arranged by
Mark Stefani. It has a
gospel, rock style that I really enjoy playing. Mark is a great player
and prolific composer. His songs lay really well for guitar solos.
Additionally, he is a consummate teacher and has been very instrumental in my
growth as a musician.
Autumn
Leaves
This is one of my favorite ballads. The arrangement is
basically
Robert Conti's
with some
of my own ideas thrown in. 657KB clip
Blue Bossa
Written by Kenny Dorham, this is one of my favorite Latin tunes.
Next project will have many more Latin numbers, I really enjoy playing them.

Sundown
Wes Montgomery wrote this song also. It has some great chord
changes.
When
Sunny Gets Blue
I think this is one of the most beautiful ballads ever written.
Lot's of very tasteful chord changes and a perfect melody. This is
recorded with bass, drums and sparse piano allowing me to do some chord melody
work in an ensemble setting.
Billies Bounce
This Charlie Parker tune is done in the same style George Benson
chose when he recorded it in the 1960's.
Front
Porch Blues
We couldn't have a CD without Stephanie playing on something.
The part Stephanie is playing was written and arranged by Mark Stefani.
I liked it so much I decided to have her play it while I jammed on it.
Not in keeping with the rest of the CD this tune exhibits some of the old
blues playing style I used to do years ago. 640KB

Impressions
This up tempo tune was written by John Coltrane. It is a fast up tempo
modal song.
